inka essenhigh updates her site with some lack-luster paintings with lack luster narratives. man, i hate to criticize her, because, frankly, some of her earlier work is some of the most inspiring work ive ever seen, and she is definately up there in my rankings of best artists ever... but thepast couple of years have just left me disappointed. she has been addressing the same narratives for years. is she trying to tell us that in the past ten years she hasnt been able to calculate a better concept for a painting than sunbathing? and that record store painting "shopping" is just so completely literal and boring, it just makes me terribly sad. i miss the inka of a few years ago. i miss the flat colors and organic abstractions....
