I really want to take part in a CSA next year... (community supported agriculture) they send you fresh veggies every week, and its a surprise package. you dont know exactly what you are getting, or how much of it you are getting. it would be cool to start eating weird veggies and learning to cook new things. maybe that can be one of my resolutions. the farm im looking at costs $575 dollars, and sends food from may til the end of september, all organic. they also have fruit, and fresh herbs. and from what ive read its hard to make it through all the food.

things im currently obsessed with....

making vintage christmas gifts

ninetendo ds cooking games

vintage decorating books

my new bed (which is actually in chocolate, but they only had the white posted online)

*side note: the mattress sits directly on slats and the frame doesnt require a box spring, it is the most comfortable thing ever. i am a complete insomniac, and since i started sleeping on this bed i have been sleeping so well. i dont think i can ever go back to a regular bed!

thrifting

xmas
i added a bunch of new links to all my fav blogs!

i heart it

so i broke down and joinedi heart it its basically like ffffound but less exclusive, and would actually give me an account.... im still feeling pretty bitter that i have yet to be able to receive a ffffound account in almost a year. i heart it is extra cutesy though, so it should be fun. it basically works like delicious but it bookmarks images instead of just pages. also it keeps your hard drive free and clear of billions of image downloads (seriously, mine is out of control)
hopefully all my friends/minions/fans/fellow bloggers will join because i want to see what other people are looking at.

ps. my "i heart it" sn is tinypalpitation (as usual)

fuuuuuuuuck

"While we are on the subject of looking ahead, I have to warn you about a particularly angry full moon that will come up next month, just prior to the holidays, December 12. This full moon will fall in Gemini and light your house of career, but there are problems. This full moon will be in hard angle to Mars, Uranus, Saturn, and the Sun. That is a lot of planetary activity, and I will, of course, talk about it next month. It will bring a conclusion to something having to do with your career. It could be someone is leaving, and it causes shock waves throughout the company.

The reason I am talking about this full moon now is that you know that your attention will be pulled in another direction on that Friday, and your emotions will be stirred up through the weekend, December 13-14. That's a popular weekend to shop, ship, and decorate the house, but I feel whatever comes up this weekend will cause those holiday activities to slide. If you have children depending on you to talk to Santa about getting certain presents for them, you may find it hard to get through to Santa, if you catch my meaning. This is why I ask you to shop in November, when you have everything going for you, and finish up your shopping, wrapping, and shipping no later than December 9. If you put up a Christmas tree, I would like you to have it up by December 9 if possible, too.

After the full moon arrives December 12 plus or minus three days, you will be preoccupied, and by the time you regain your balance it will be December 20 or so, which is really late! Why pay high shipping costs for packages you couldn't ship earlier? Get ready for the holiday in November, and you will be SO glad you did. This year the stores will have plenty of sales, so you will not miss out on those. Also, stores will have lower inventory than usual, so you won't be disappointed with your selection in November."

awesome
"Life certainly hasn't been easy for you lately"
understatement of the century..... first line of this months horoscope. you have to laugh a little.

so im not a real astrology devotee or anything... usually i casually turn to it when life is in the crapper, and i need a little hope.

i wish i could kiss her nose.

flop monster. one of her many nicknames. after breakfast she would pass out hard and it was always hard to get her to get up and into her crate. most mornings one of us would have to carry her lifeless body all flopped over, limbs dangling, and put her into her crate. we always enjoyed how comfortable she was with us.

porky had great folds. they were itchy and she would dive bomb the carpet and drag her face against it to scratch them. she usually smelled like corn chips and her breath smelled like an asthma inhaler. it might sound morbid, but this is exactly what she looked like when she died, all flopped over, relaxed, jowls all smushed. i dont know if i will ever get over her loss.

yesterday i lost one of the things that has defined me for the past three years, and it has been one of the most painful things i have even been through. porkchop had begun to suffer from a liver problem which caused her system to overload with ammonia, which caused her neurological problems. it was painful to see her struggle, and for as much as i wanted to keep her in my life, i had to sacrifice my needs for the benefit of hers.

i will miss her forever.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

i laid in bed with porkchop all day yesterday. she felt best when she was pressed in between my body and the back of the couch, pushing her head into the pillow, my arm, or the corner of the couch. i slept from 1230-4pm and then went back to bed at 6. its amazing how exhausting crying is, and just being sad in general.
the vets seem pretty convinced that porky has a neurological disorder like pug encephalitis, and have already told me that i need to be rational and consider her quality of life over our emotional attachment. its absolutely heartbreaking. we are going to the critical care facility tomorrow, and hopefully they will be able to give me a more certain idea of exactly what is wrong with her.
blah.
anthropologize. i like these decorations and the programming is pretty amazing

i uploaded a huge collection of uploaded images from a better homes and gardens diy book that i thrifted...

netflix-ster

in queue:
the art of romare bearden
mr. bing and le art noveau
art 21 season 4... (i was kind of disappointed in this. its a lot of performance and conceptual sculpture... barely any painting)
there is an "ecology" episode that was pretty interesting. i particularly enjoyedmark dion's living sculpture.

top ten:
e2: design: season 1 (green building designs)
art 21: season 1&2 disc 2
jc levendecker (golden age illustrator)
heavy metal parking lot (tailgating at judas priest circa 1986)
life and work of dr hunter s. thompson
spirited away (miyazaki)
the films of ray and charles eames
samurai fiction
love and pop
alex grey: the chapel of sacred mirrors

im kind of stoked on winter, shorter days, less social obligations, and more time indoors. ive been watching tons of movies and docs. i made a drawing for a new painting, so im pretty stoked about that. i finally got around to watching holy mountain which is a definite must see for all artists... completely inspiring. matthew barney's creamaster, with 70s flair. brilliant.

i will have a huge flickr post later today....

last night was lots of fun. it was really awesome to see everyone get really into dressing up....
i was a dead jazzercizer
jess was a dead bike messenger
drew was amish
susan was a boxing nun
don was a little kid in astro-jammies complete w little motor bike
zack was in nothing but long johns and a tiger mask
dana was a bunny mummy
